What we do
Adult Groups
At Scrubditch Care Farm, our core programme is designed to cater to adults with additional needs, providing them with a supportive and enriching environment to thrive.
Our sessions run daily, except for Tuesdays, from 10 am to 3 pm, offering a structured and engaging schedule tailored to the needs of our participants.
Throughout the day, our students actively participate in a variety of meaningful farm-based activities that promote learning, personal development, and well-being. These activities include:
-
Animal Care: Participants have the opportunity to interact with and care for our animals, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection with nature.
-
Horticulture: Engaging in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables not only teaches valuable gardening skills but also promotes healthy living and an appreciation for fresh, nutritious food.
-
Farm Maintenance: Taking part in maintaining the farm infrastructure ensures that our participants develop practical skills while contributing to the upkeep of our facilities.
-
Woodland and Countryside Walks: Exploring the natural surroundings of our farm through woodland and countryside walks provides opportunities for physical activity, sensory stimulation, and relaxation.
-
Cookery Studio: Our cookery studio offers a space for participants to learn culinary skills, prepare meals using fresh ingredients harvested from the farm, and enjoy the fruits of their labour together.
By participating in these diverse activities, our students not only gain valuable skills and knowledge but also build confidence, social connections, and a sense of purpose. Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive community where individuals with additional needs can flourish and lead fulfilling lives.

Dementia Group
Our Dementia Group at Scrubditch Care Farm offers a supportive and inclusive environment for participants with dementia and their carer/spouse. Held every Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm, this program provides a valuable opportunity for individuals living with dementia to engage in meaningful activities while enjoying the benefits of spending time outdoors.
Our Dementia Group serves as a vital support network, allowing participants to enjoy the outdoors, engage in meaningful activities, and connect with others in a supportive and understanding environment.
Outreach Programme
At Scrubditch Care Farm, we are committed to extending our services beyond our physical location to reach a broader audience through our Outreach Programme. Our workshops bring the unique experience of interacting with our animals directly to participants who may face barriers to accessing our farm. This initiative aims to promote inclusivity and provide hands-on experiences that offer numerous benefits.
Key Features of our Outreach Programme:
-
Mobile Workshops: Our team takes the animals on the road, bringing the farm experience to various locations. This mobile setup enables us to reach individuals and groups who may otherwise be unable to visit us in person.
-
Hands-On Experiences: Participants engage in interactive sessions where they can feed, groom, and interact with our animals under the guidance of our experienced staff. These hands-on experiences foster a sense of connection with nature and promote emotional well-being.
-
Inclusivity: By taking our workshops off-site, we ensure that individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with physical disabilities or limited mobility, can participate in our programmes. This promotes inclusivity and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from animal-assisted activities.
-
Benefits Beyond Interaction: In addition to direct interaction with the animals, our workshops offer numerous other benefits, including:
-
Therapeutic Benefits: Interacting with animals has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness, promoting emotional well-being.
-
Educational Opportunities: Participants learn about animal care, behavior, and the importance of conservation, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world.
-
Social Connection: Our workshops provide opportunities for socialization and bonding among participants, creating a sense of community and belonging.
-
By bringing our animals and expertise directly to communities, schools, care facilities, and other organisations, we aim to make the transformative power of animal-assisted activities accessible to all. Our Outreach Programme embodies our commitment to fostering connection, well-being, and inclusion through meaningful interactions with animals.
